Learn and Reflect

There's a story of a fox, a wolf and a bear who went hunting together. After each of them caught a deer, the bear asked the wolf how they should divide up the spoils. He said, 'everyone should get one deer'. At that point the bear ate the wolf. Then the bear asked the fox what he thought. The fox offered the bear his deer,and suggested the bear ought to take the wolf's deer as well. 'Where did you get such wisdom?' asked the bear. 'From the wolf', replied the fox.
The school of life offers many difficult courses. Some of life offers many courses. Some we sign up for, others we find ourselves taking unexpectedly. All can teach us valuable lessons, but only if we desire to learn and are willing to reflect on these lessons. Also, not learning from the experience is more costly. Its tragic to pay the price for experience and not learn the lesson. But that's often what happens. When an experience is negative we want to run away from it and say, 'I'll never do that again'. No, don't run away from experiences; instead , evaluate and learn from them.
People who make it a practice to reflect on their experiences and learn from them are rare. But when you meet one, you know it. 'Cry out for wisdom, and beg for understanding. Search for it like silver, and hunt for it like hidden treasure'.

A true friend

A true friend sees the first tear,

To the shop, and school, to work and play,
the busy people pass all day;

They never think of fairy-folk
who may be hiding for a joke!!

God made the world

God made the World
with a heartful of love,
then he looked down from heaven above,
& saw that we all need a helping hand,
someone to share with,
who'll understand.
He made special people to see us through
the glad times and the sad times, too;
a person on whom we can always depend,
someone we can call a Friend.

£10 and flyer

You check your jeans before you shove 'em in the wash & discover two pieces of crumpled-up paper. One is a flyer, the other a £10 note. One you'll keep & one you'll throw away. Why? After all they're both crumpled up pieces of paper right? Wrong! One makes you think 'Bin it!'
because its just a manky bit of paper that you don't need any more. The other makes you smile & think 'Nice one!' because you'd forgotten all about that tenner. One of them is valuable to you.
When things go wrong, & they sometimes do, we can begin to feel like that flyer we found crushed in our jeans pocket. It started out OK; colourful, shiny, useful, but then it got pushed & pulled in every direction, the info on it wasn't as clear as it used to be & it looked dull & boring. It became a lost cause. When things go wrong, & they sometimes will; you need to think of yourself like that tenner you found crumpled up in the pocket of your jeans, not the tatty flyer. Even if it had gone through the whole wash cycle it would never lose its worth, never lose its value.
You may feel battered, broken, bruised, useless!
But you will always remind priceless to me ..

I asked

I asked for strength
and God gave me diffculties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom
and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity
and God gave me brawn and brain to work.
I asked for courage
and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for patience
and God placed me in situations where i was forced to wait.
I asked for love
and God gave me troubled people to help.
I assked for favours
and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing i wanted.
I received everything i needed.
